The BDC’s Artist & Mural Selection Committee is now accepting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from artists interested in joining our efforts to beautify Downtown Burlington with public art.

Currently, artists may submit an RFP for Phase 1 of this Project. The first mural in this series of three murals will be located on the backside of the Cox Auto Sales building (474 S. Church Street), facing S. Worth Street adjacent to City of Burlington Public Parking Lot 5, located at the corner of the intersection of Maple Avenue and S. Worth Street.

Applications are due no later than Sunday, March 31, 2019 by 11:59pm and the selected artists will be notified by Friday, April 19, 2019. Murals must be completed by December 31, 2019.

APPLICATION FOR CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Burlington Downtown Corporation (BDC) has adopted this application for use by individuals interested in serving on the Burlington Downtown Corporation Board of Directors. To ensure that your application will receive full consideration, please answer all questions completely. 

The BDC's typical board member recruitment cycle begins early spring each calendar year. Occasionally, vacancies may arise on the Board prior to the normal board recruitment season, for that reason, applications to serve on the BDC Board are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Nominating Committee presents its recommendations for vote to the full BDC Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting in June, and new board members begin their term on July 1.

This program is intended for speedy projects to building facades. If the BDC’s Grant Committee wishes to grant project funding, it will seek approval from the full BDC Board of Directors. BDC staff will notify you once a decision has been made.


How does the Facade Grant Program work?

Businesses and/or properties located in the Municipal Service District (MSD) of Downtown Burlington may use funds for specified exterior building improvements including lighting, paint, signage or awnings. Businesses must adhere to certain design guidelines and have all the necessary approvals to be eligible.


Facade Grant funds are available for the following improvements:

Removal of false fronts (such as aluminum panels)

  • Repair or replacement of windows, doors, and cornices
  • Repair or replacement of façade materials
  • New signage
  • New awnings
  • Exterior lighting
  • Exterior painting
  • Assoicated construction costs

Routine maintenance and descgn costs are NOT eligible for funding by the Facade Grant program.


How  Much Funding Is Available?

The Burlington Downtown Corporation (BDC) will reimburse 50% of approved project costs, up to $2,000. Grant awards are subject to fund availability.
